WASHINGTON — Top Trump administration officials met with Republican lawmakers on the Senate Finance Committee Wednesday to push for legislation to lower U.S. drug prices.
Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Administrator Mehmet Oz, Medicare Director Chris Klomp, and Theo Merkel, special assistant to the president for domestic policy, discussed with Senate Republicans how they might codify the most-favored nation drug price plan into law, according to a person with direct knowledge of the meeting.
Most-favored nation policies, embraced by President Trump, refer to the idea that the U.S. shouldn’t pay more than other wealthy nations for prescription drugs.
