Bhopal: On a day meant to celebrate and honour doctors, a shocking case of ragging allegedly took place at the Ram Krishna Medical College in Bhopal. A video now circulating widely on the social media platform X shows a group of senior MBBS students carrying cricket bats, allegedly threatening and attempting to assault first-year students in their hostel rooms.
The video has triggered strong reactions online, with doctors calling for immediate and strict action. The seniors were reportedly seen barging into the rooms and issuing threats, all of which have been captured in the viral footage.

The matter came to light after Dr Vivek Pandey, RTI activist and a medical professional, shared the video and wrote on 'X', “🚨Seniors at Ram Krishna Medical College, Bhopal, barged into first-year students' rooms, brutally assaulted them ragged them. Demanding a thorough investigation & strict action.”
Another doctor sharing Dr Pandey's post expressed anger and urged authorities to act. He said, “Suspend these animals and impose heavy fines!”
The disturbing visual has sparked debate about campus safety and the implementation of anti-ragging measures. As of now, no official statement has been released by the college administration.
Medical Dialogues had recently reported another ragging incident from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Mangalagiri, where 13 out of 15 MBBS accused students allegedly abused and harassed a first-year student, accusing him of misbehaving with female classmates. The harassment reportedly drove the junior to attempt self-harm.
Taking disciplinary action against these students, the AIIMS authorities suspended three students for 1.5 years, four students for a year, and six others for six months after they were found guilty of ragging the junior. The action was taken after the institute received a complaint from the victim and subsequently informed the local police and alerted the University Grants Commission (UGC).
