    Illegally marketed formulations under name of Biovus Pharma seized at Moosarambagh

    Telangana: Drugs Control Administration, Telangana has seized illegally marketed formulations under the name of Biovus Pharma, without a drug licence, at Moosarambagh, Hyderabad. Stocks worth Rs 52,737/- were seized during the raid.

    On 28th May 2025, officials of the Drugs Control Administration, Secunderabad Zone, acting on credible information regarding the illegal marketing of medicines, conducted a raid at Sri Venkateshwara Medi Promotors, Situated at H.No.16-11-405/13, First Floor, SBI Officers Colony, Moosarambagh, Malakpet, Hyderabad. During the raid, the DCA officers detected formulations illegally marketed under the name of Biovus Pharma, without a drug licence, and stocked for sale.

    As per the Drugs Rules, 1945, the “Marketer” mentioned on the label of the above products, i.e., Biovus Pharma, may carry out labelling or affix its name on the label of the drug as 'Marketer' for its sale and distribution only under an agreement with the manufacturer of the drug. Further, the Marketer shall also hold a valid drug licence for the sale or distribution of the drug at the premises declared on the label.
    However, the marketer, Biovus Pharma, failed to produce the manufacturer-marketer agreement with the manufacturer and also failed to hold a valid drug licence at the marketer’s address indicated on the label. Hence, stocks worth Rs. 52,737/- were seized during the raid.
    Smt. D. Saritha, Assistant Director, Secunderabad, Sri. G. Anil, Drugs Inspector, Malakpet, Sri. B. Govind Singh, Drugs Inspector, Secunderabad, Sri. M. Surendranath, Drugs Inspector, Begumpet, and Smt. P. Renuka, Drugs Inspector, Musheerabad were among the officers who carried out the raid. Further investigation shall be carried out and action shall be taken as per the law against all the offenders.
    As per the Drugs Rules, no marketer shall adopt any drug manufactured by another manufacturer for marketing by labelling or affixing their name on the label of the drug for its sale and distribution without a manufacturer marketer agreement. The marketer shall hold a valid drug licence at the premises claimed on the label for the sale or distribution of the drug. Further, the marketer shall also be responsible for the quality of the drug along with the manufacturer.
